Because a swap marketplace only works with depth. By starting with books, we can build a catalogue with real choice in every genre before opening up more categories, and give readers book-native tools like ISBN scanning, want-lists, series tracking and shelf imports that generic marketplaces don't have. More categories will follow once the bookshelves are full.
Find a book you want and make a swap offer using one or more books from your own shelf. The other reader can accept, decline, or counter-offer, and either side can add cash to balance the deal. Once agreed, both parties post their books with tracked delivery. For swaps over £30, items are routed through Swopsee HQ for verification before being forwarded.
Shelf Swap is Swopsee's monthly swap event. Instead of needing two people who each want the other's book, Shelf Swap links readers into chains: your book goes to someone who wants it, and a book from your want-list comes to you from someone else entirely. When a loop closes on Swap Day, everyone posts one book and everyone receives one. Join by having books listed and a want-list filled in before the event.
Yes. Export your library as a CSV from Goodreads or StoryGraph (both have this built in) and upload it to Swopsee. Your to-read shelf becomes your want-list, and we'll suggest books from your read shelf that you might want to list. Nothing is listed automatically; you confirm the condition and photos of anything before it goes live.
Scan the ISBN barcode with your phone and the title, author, cover art, genre and series details fill themselves in. Add your photos, pick a condition, set a price or swap value, and you're live, usually in under a minute. You can also search by title or author if the barcode is missing.
Buyer Protection is automatically applied to all purchases for a small fee. Your payment is held securely by Swopsee until you confirm the book has arrived in the condition described. If it never arrives, is damaged in transit, or is significantly not as described, you can raise a dispute within 2 days of delivery for a full refund.
Swapper Protection adds a layer of security to swaps. For swaps valued over £30 it is mandatory; under £30 it is optional. Both parcels are shipped to Swopsee HQ first, where they are verified before being forwarded to their new owners. If there is a problem with either one, both are returned.
Browsing, listing books, and basic swapping are completely free, and sellers always keep 100% of their sale price. Buyer Protection and Swapper Protection include small fees that cover secure handling, escrow, and support. There are no hidden subscription or platform fees.
When a buyer purchases your book, their payment is held securely by Swopsee. Once the buyer confirms delivery, or after the 2-day confirmation window passes, the funds are released to your connected payout account via Stripe. You keep 100% of your sale price.
